TL;DR

The best Midtown Memphis restaurants, verified October 2026: Global Café's refugee-cooked world menu and Bao Toan's Vietnamese at Crosstown Concourse, BBQ spaghetti at The Bar-B-Q Shop, Tamboli's handmade pasta on Madison, The Cupboard's meat-and-three on Union, Ecco on Overton Park, and Dino's Thursday spaghetti. This guide covers 27 spots, grouped by street, with hours from each restaurant's own site.

Midtown Memphis restaurants cover more ground than the two famous corners. Cooper-Young and Overton Square get their own guides, so this one spends its time on the rest of Midtown: a converted Sears tower full of kitchens, a stretch of Madison that has been serving BBQ spaghetti since 1987, a 1943 meat-and-three on Union, and a family Italian room in an old Masonic temple by Overton Park.

All 27 restaurants below were checked at their own websites on October 13, 2026. Hours appear only where the restaurant's own page printed them that day. If you're new to the area, our Memphis neighborhoods guide explains where Midtown starts and stops, and our best restaurants in Memphis list covers the whole city. Heading downtown instead? Cooper-Young and Overton Square

Midtown's two best-known dining districts each have their own full guide. In Cooper-Young, start with The Beauty Shop (966 S Cooper, weekend brunch Saturday 11–2 and Sunday 10–3), Bain Barbecue (993 S Cooper, Tue–Sat 11–8, Sun 11–4), Soul Fish Cafe (862 S Cooper), and Young Avenue Deli (2119 Young). All of them, plus the rest of the neighborhood, are in our Cooper-Young restaurants guide.

In Overton Square, the headliners are Porch & Parlor's steakhouse (2125 Madison), Lafayette's Music Room for dinner and a show (2119 Madison, Thursday through Sunday), Bayou Bar & Grill (2094 Madison), and Complicated Pilgrim (21 S Cooper). The full list is in our Overton Square restaurants guide.

Just east of Midtown: Broad Avenue

Broad Avenue's arts district is technically in Binghampton, just past Midtown's eastern edge, and neither of these two calls itself Midtown. They're a five-minute drive from Overton Square and easy to add to a Midtown night.

  • City & State2625 Broad Ave

A coffee bar and shop selling beans from roasters like Rigby and Intelligentsia, plus brewers and gear. Mon–Fri 7am–6pm, Sat 8am–6pm, Sun 8am–2pm.

  • Muddy's Bake Shop2497 Broad Ave

Scratch cupcakes and cookies since 2008, walk-in or pre-ordered with two days' notice. Wed–Fri 10am–5:30pm, Sat 10am–4pm, closed Sun–Tue.

Closed, moved, or couldn't confirm

The Liquor Store has left Broad Avenue. Its own site says the original Broad location is gone and the diner now runs at 669 S Mendenhall in East Memphis. We couldn't confirm Railgarten on Central or Cafe 1912 on Cooper are open: neither website responded on October 13, 2026, so both are off this list until they do.

A few Midtown regulars are missing because we couldn't find a website run by the restaurant itself to verify them: Kwik Check on Madison, Barksdale on Cooper, Alex's Tavern on Jackson, and Saigon Le on Cleveland. If you run one of them and have a site, reply to any issue of the newsletter and we'll check it.

The honest answers

What are the best Midtown Memphis restaurants?

For a first visit, start with Global Café or Bao Toan at Crosstown Concourse, BBQ spaghetti at The Bar-B-Q Shop on Madison, handmade pasta at Tamboli's, the meat-and-three at The Cupboard on Union, and dinner at Ecco on Overton Park. All six were checked at their own websites in October 2026.

What restaurants are in Crosstown Concourse?

Inside the building at 1350 Concourse Ave: Global Café, Bao Toan Kitchen & Bar, Briza, Farm Burger, The Mad Grocer & Deli, and Lucy J's Bakery. Crosstown Brewing's taproom kitchen is next door at 1264 Concourse Ave. Parking in the Concourse garage is free, and Global Café validates after 6pm.

Where can you eat late in Midtown Memphis?

Louis Connelly's on Cleveland is open until 3am every night. Jack Brown's on Central serves until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 2am on weekends. Cameo's kitchen runs to midnight, or 1am Friday and Saturday, and Slider Inn's kitchen closes at 11:30pm, or 12:30am on weekends. The citywide map is our late-night food guide.

Which Midtown restaurants are closed on Mondays?

Tamboli's, Global Café, Dino's Grill, No Comment, Ecco on Overton Park, and Lucy J's Bakery all close on Monday. Open Monday: The Cupboard (7am–8pm), Molly's La Casita, Farm Burger, Briza, Bao Toan, Crosstown Brewing, Abyssinia, Cameo, Jack Brown's, Slider Inn, and Louis Connelly's. Check the hours above before driving over.

Is Broad Avenue part of Midtown Memphis?

Not quite. The Broad Avenue Arts District sits in Binghampton, just east of Midtown's eastern edge, and its businesses don't describe themselves as Midtown. It's about five minutes from Overton Square, so we list City & State and Muddy's Bake Shop in their own section as an easy add-on.

How current is this list?

Every restaurant on this page was checked at its own website on October 13, 2026, with addresses and hours taken from that page. Where a restaurant's site showed two different sets of hours, we left hours off instead of guessing. When a Midtown room opens, moves, or closes, this page gets updated.
