Hey Memphis

Your next customer reads this at 6am.

Hey Memphis is the free weekday email Memphians open before their first cup of coffee — concerts, openings, food, family stuff, the whole 901. If your customers are in Memphis, this is where their day starts.

Why a small email beats a big billboard.

A billboard on Poplar gets seen. That’s about all you’ll ever know about it. Same with a quarter page in print, same with a thirty-second spot — you buy the impression and then you guess.

Email is different. We can tell you how many people opened the issue your ad ran in and how many of them clicked through to you. Not a projection. A count, from the send.

And this is a Memphis room, and a careful one. Readers believe what’s in here because we check it before we print it — and that is the only reason they believe you when you show up in it.

You’re not renting attention. You’re borrowing trust we earn every weekday morning at 6.

Who’s on the other end.

It’s a small list and we’ll never pretend otherwise. It’s also a deliberately local one — every channel we acquire through is geo-filtered to Tennessee and the Mid-South, not opened up to whoever is cheapest that week.

  • 2,351 subscribers Memphians who asked for this, and more of them every week.
  • 44.1% average open rate Nearly half the list opens the average issue. Most email you get doesn’t.
  • 7.0% average click rate They don't just open it — they click through and go do the thing.

Straight from our email platform, verified September 4, 2026. These are rolling averages, not our best day, and we’ll tell you if they move down as fast as we’d tell you they moved up.

Four ways to show up.

All four run inside the issue itself, where the reader already is. Every one of them is labeled clearly as sponsored — the FTC requires it and we’d do it anyway, because an ad a reader feels tricked by is worth less than no ad at all.

Rates depend on the format and the dates — a quiet week costs less than a big one, and we’d rather quote you the real number than publish an average. Ask below and you’ll get the kit and a price the same day.

  • Headline Sponsor Your logo and 150 characters at the very top of the issue, under "Together with." The first thing anyone reads that morning.
  • Featured Story A photo and about 140 words in the middle of the issue, written in our voice or in yours. Enough room to actually tell people something.
  • Baseline Ad Text only, 150 characters. One clean line that says who you are and where to find you.
  • Sponsored Story A full article on heymemphis.co in our voice or yours, labeled Sponsored and yours to keep, plus six plugs for it in the daily.

Read the work before you talk to us.

Every event we print is checked against the organizer, the venue, or the box office before it goes in. If we can’t confirm it, we cut it — a charming wrong sentence is worse than a plain right one. If we say it’s Saturday at 7, it’s Saturday at 7.

You don’t have to take our word for any of that. Every issue we’ve ever sent is public in the archive, and the guides we write for the city are free to read too. Nothing is behind a login and nothing is behind a paywall, so you can judge the room before you decide whether you want to stand in it.

Yes! It’s been very helpful. We went to the Orpheum 901 event last night for drinks and a fabulous tour. Their management wanted to know how we had heard about the event and we shared your listings.

A reader’s own words, in an email to us. We have no advertiser case studies yet — nobody has run a campaign here. When someone does, their numbers go in this spot.

Get the media kit.

Slots are open and the next few weeks are still wide. Straight answer to go with that: we’re small, and we’d rather you hear it from us than find out later. That’s the whole reason to talk now — you’re early, your price is quoted against today’s list rather than the one on the card, and you’re in front of a room that opens almost half of what we send. Fill this out and the kit comes straight back, with numbers you can check against every issue we’ve ever published.

One email with the kit, then we pick dates and I send an insertion order and an invoice. If this list isn’t the right buy for you I’ll say so — sometimes it isn’t. — Josh

Not ready yet?

Fair — most people find us before they have a budget for us. Leave an email and I’ll send a note every so often: what the list is doing, what a slot costs now, and which weeks are open. No sales sequence, and nothing else.
