New restaurants in Memphis open and close fast, so this page works one way: every opening below is confirmed at the restaurant's own site or social, dated where the restaurant dates it, and refreshed every month. If we say it's open, it's open.

• Big Bad Breakfast — Cooper-YoungCooper-Young

  Opened September 29. John Currence's Southern scratch diner opened its second Memphis location at 2149 Young Avenue (the first is on Poplar in East Memphis). Biscuits, shrimp and grits, and the house bacon cured in Tabasco mash. Daily 7am–2:30pm, walk-in only — no reservations.

• Hive — East MemphisEast Memphis

  Opened August 29. The downtown bagel bakery's second shop took over the old Holiday Deli & Ham Co. space at 585 Erin Drive — about 5,000 square feet, against the original's 1,100. Fresh bagels, bread, spreads, sandwiches and pastries, open daily 7am–7pm.

• Scrapped The Plate BistroStage Road

  Now open at 7199 Stage Road, and the owners say the ribs are the must-order. Dinner Tuesday–Friday from 4:30pm, Saturday 10am–7pm (brunch till 3), and Sunday brunch (10am–2pm) rolling into soul food from noon to 5. Closed Mondays. They're testing lunch on October 15–16, 10:30am–2:30pm.

• Shreya's PizzaPark Avenue

  New on Park Avenue. Wood-fired pizza with Indian flavors — butter chicken, paneer tikka, and a Mumbai Street pie — at 3439 Park Ave. Open seven days a week.

• Josephine Estelle + Rosie's TavernGermantown

  Opened late May. The Ticer & Hudman homecoming — the James Beard-nominated chefs behind Andrew Michael and Hog & Hominy brought their Italian-Southern flagship home from New Orleans, with Rosie's Tavern, a cocktail-and-small-bites bar, upstairs. Lunch Tue–Fri, dinner nightly except Monday; book on Resy.

• BrizaCrosstown

  Opened November. Woodfired 'land, sushi, sea' from husband-and-wife team Moisés and Maggie Hernandez — hand-cut steaks and inventive sushi under one roof in the Concourse. Resy reservations.

• The Second LineLaurelwood

  Reopened April. Kelly English's beloved Cajun-Creole spot left Overton Square and re-emerged next door to Restaurant Iris — same po'boys, gumbo, and pimento-cheese fries, new East Memphis address (4550 Poplar).

• Maeve's TavernCollierville

  Opened July 2. A proper Irish pub on Collierville's Main Street — the interior was literally shipped from Ireland — from the Brazen Restaurant Group. Full menu daily, Sunday brunch from 10am.

• Magnolia Bend GrilleNesbit, MS

  Opened November. Chef Michael Patrick's Southern fine-dining room at Bonne Terre — filet, shrimp and grits, Sunday lunch — carrying the flag for the DeSoto County side. Wed–Sun.

• Bain Barbecue — GermantownGermantown

  Opened May 19. The Cooper-Young Texas-style smokehouse doubled itself — brisket smoked daily, counter service, 60 seats on Germantown Road.

• The DameDowntown

  Opened summer 2026. A moody cocktail den beneath the restored Hotel Pontotoc — caviar and chips, whiskey trail mix, serious drinks. Open till midnight Fri–Sat.

• Cocozza EastEast Memphis

  Opened in July. The Harbor Town red-sauce favorite lands its second location on Yates Road — nightly from 4pm, with the same aperitivo hour DNA (details in our happy hour guide).

• Social DesiiiCollierville

  Opened late 2025. Biryanis, chaats, Indo-Chinese, and a full bar on Winchester — the suburbs' most ambitious Indian opening in years. Closed Mondays.

• Habana Club Bar and GrillShelby Crossing

  Opened this year. Classic Cuban — from a Havana-born owner — with late-night weekend hours (till 3am Fri–Sat) on Macon Road.

• J Woods Sports BarHarbor Town

  Now open in the old Harbor Town Pharmacy space on Mud Island — wall-to-wall screens, a full bar, and breakfast and brunch from 9am Saturday and Sunday. Weeknights it opens at 4pm (11am on Friday) and runs till midnight Friday and Saturday. The neighborhood finally has its game-day room.

• Dog & BoneOverton Square

  The British pub at 2116 Madison is open — bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Their website doesn't post hours yet, so check their socials before you go.

And poured one out for…

Honest ledger, both directions. This fall: Westy's on North Main closed in mid-August, hot fudge pie and all; Belmont Grill on Poplar stepped back from day-to-day service on August 29 after almost 42 years (its owner isn't ready to call it the final chapter); and Frida's closed its Collierville location on September 20 after about a decade. The Memphis Frida's is still open.

Earlier this year, Tsunami closed in February after 28 years — chef Ben Smith's Pacific Rim pioneer was a Cooper-Young institution — and downtown lost By the Brewery after five. Chef Flava's left its downtown spot in July; its own site now points to its Stage Road address. The Second Line's old Overton Square room also went dark, but that one's a happy ending (see above).
