TL;DR

The best restaurants in Germantown, TN, verified October 2026: Josephine Estelle (the Ticer-Hudman Italian room at The Standard), Blue Honey Bistro, Limelight on Poplar Pike, the Germantown Commissary's barbecue in a former country store, Bain Barbecue's new Germantown pit, Staks for pancakes, and West Street Diner. This guide covers 26 spots inside Germantown city limits, grouped by occasion, with hours from each restaurant's own site.

Restaurants in Germantown, TN, the Shelby County suburb east of Memphis, are easy to undersell. Plenty of people only know Germantown as the stretch of Poplar between home and Collierville. Look closer and it has the Andrew Michael team's Italian room, a barbecue joint in a converted country store, a diner on West Street, and enough brunch to fill a Saturday. One thing trips up searchers: Nashville and Philadelphia both have a Germantown, so most "Germantown restaurants" lists aren't about this one.

So we built the local version. Every restaurant below sits inside Germantown city limits, and we checked each one at its own website in October 2026, reading the street address and ZIP rather than trusting the name. Hours appear only where the restaurant prints them. For the rest of a day out here, see our things to do in Germantown, TN guide. Headed further east or west? We have Collierville and Cordova restaurant guides too. — Josh

Closed, moved, or not what it seems

A few Germantown names still circulate that you shouldn't plan around without checking first. As of October 2026, Wolf River Brisket Co.'s own website lists only its Collierville location (9947 Wolf River Blvd), and Swanky's Taco Shop's site lists only East Memphis (4770 Poplar). KyuRamen's own locations page shows no Tennessee store; the KyuRamen that opened "in Germantown" is in Nashville's Germantown. Crave Sweet Shop's Germantown address is a production kitchen for custom cakes, with no storefront, so order ahead.

We also couldn't confirm a few longtime names at a source of their own this round: Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana on South Germantown Road, Zen Japanese in Thornwood, Sufi's Mediterranean on Poplar Pike, and Café Med. Call before you go, and we'll add them once we can verify them. And watch the parkway: Germantown Parkway runs north into Cordova, and a restaurant there with ZIP 38016 or 38018 is in Cordova, not Germantown. Those restaurants are in our Cordova guide.

Is this the Germantown near Nashville?

No. This guide covers Germantown, Tennessee, the city in Shelby County just east of Memphis (ZIP 38138 and 38139). Nashville's Germantown is a downtown neighborhood three hours away, and Philadelphia has one too. If a list mentions Rolf and Daughters or City House, it's about Nashville.

What are the best restaurants in Germantown, TN?

For a special night: Josephine Estelle, Blue Honey Bistro, or Limelight. For barbecue: the Germantown Commissary or Bain Barbecue. For an easy family dinner: Huey's, Memphis Pizza Cafe, or Soul Fish. For breakfast: Staks or West Street Diner. Every one was checked at its own site in October 2026. For the citywide picks, see the best restaurants in Memphis.

Is a Germantown Parkway address in Germantown?

Often it isn't. Germantown Parkway runs north into Cordova, and much of its restaurant strip carries Cordova or Memphis addresses with ZIP 38016 or 38018. Read the ZIP. Pyro's Fire Fired Pizza at 2286 N Germantown Pkwy is one example: it's in Cordova. Germantown's own restaurants cluster on Poplar Avenue, Germantown Road, West Street, Farmington, and Poplar Pike, all 38138.

Which Germantown restaurants are closed on Mondays?

Plan around these: Blue Honey Bistro (closed Sunday and Monday), Josephine Estelle and Rosie's Tavern (no Monday service), Bain Barbecue, and Memphis Pizza Cafe. Limelight is the opposite: open Monday with half-price wine, and closed Sunday.

Where can I get breakfast in Germantown, TN?

West Street Diner opens at 7am every day, and so do Staks (pancakes) and City Silo (Mon–Sat). Rise at Saddle Creek runs 7am–2pm daily, and Congregation Coffee opens at 6:30am on weekdays. For a sit-down brunch, try Blue Honey on Saturday (10:30–2) or Forest Hill Grill on Sunday (11–3).

What else is there to do in Germantown?

Plenty, most of it free: the Bobby Lanier Farm Park, GPAC and its outdoor Grove, the Wolf River Greenway, and the 1858 train depot. Our things to do in Germantown, TN guide has the details. Driving south? See our Southaven restaurants guide.
