TL;DR

The best thrift stores in Memphis: the Junior League's Repeat Boutique on Summer Avenue (open since the 1940s), Blues City Thrift in East Memphis, the Salvation Army store on Kirby Whitten, Goodwill's Union Avenue and Stage Road stores, and Flashback's vintage on Central. Twenty-one stores across the 901 and DeSoto, every one checked at its own site in October 2026, with hours and donation rules.

The best thrift stores in Memphis still run along Summer Avenue, the long east–west strip where charity shops, discount outlets, and antique malls have shared parking lots for decades. Around it sits a wider map: big donation-fed stores in East Memphis and Raleigh, a handful of serious vintage shops in Midtown, kids' resale out east, and Goodwill stores from Millington to Hernando.

So we checked all of it. Twenty-one stores, every one verified at its own site in October 2026, with the hours the stores themselves publish, what they take as donations, and a short list of names that have closed. For booth-by-booth antique hunting, our Memphis antique stores guide covers the Summer Avenue antique malls, Sheffield's in Collierville, and the flea market's new home. — Josh

Closed or changed, so you don't drive to an empty lot

Goodwill's Austin Peay Highway store is permanently closed, per Goodwill's own locations map, and so is its old Collierville donation center on Market Boulevard. On Summer Avenue, the Disabled American Veterans thrift store and Thrift Citi are both gone from the strip. Several smaller vintage names we looked for, including Fox+Cat Vintage on Central, had no working website in October 2026; check their social accounts before you go. Everything listed above was confirmed at its own site this month, and this page gets updated when the map moves.

A cheap Saturday on Summer Avenue pairs well with the rest of our free things to do in Memphis, and our Memphis neighborhoods guide explains where Highland Heights, Berclair, and the rest of the strip fit.

The honest answers

What is the best thrift store in Memphis?

For charity thrift, the Junior League's Repeat Boutique at 3586 Summer Ave (open since the 1940s, Tue–Sat 10–5) and Blues City Thrift at 6685 Quince Rd (Mon–Sat 12–6) are the two charity stores to start with. For vintage, Flashback at 2304 Central Ave is the long-running standard. All three were verified open at their own sites in October 2026.

Where is the thrift district in Memphis?

Summer Avenue. Repeat Boutique sits on it, along with a run of independent thrift and discount stores, and so do the antique malls in our antique stores guide. Midtown adds the vintage shops on Central Avenue and Madison Avenue.

Memphis Goodwill runs attended donation centers across the metro (the list is on goodwillmemphis.org/locations). Repeat Boutique takes donations at its back door Tue–Sat 10:30–4. Memphis Goodwill calls its markdown stores Bargain Barns. There's one at the Stage Road store (6899 Stage Rd) and one in Hernando, plus a Bargain Center in Millington. Hours are on Goodwill's own locations map.

Where can I sell kids' clothes in Memphis?

Once Upon a Child (Cordova, Collierville, Southaven) buys kids' clothing, toys, and gear, and Plato's Closet (Cordova, Memphis, Collierville, Southaven) pays cash for teen and young-adult clothes with no appointment. KidsTown's next consignment sale is March 4–6, 2027.
