Southaven, MS gets sold short online — and it shouldn't, because it calls itself the 'Top of Mississippi' for a reason. It's the Memphis metro's front porch in DeSoto County, ten minutes from downtown, with a walkable town-square district, a real concert amphitheater, and an arena that lands national tours.

• Silo SquareGetwell Rd & May Blvd

  Southaven's answer to a historic town square, built new: a bell tower, a green, and dozens of businesses — restaurants, a wine bar, a live-music hall, boutiques, golf simulators. It's the closest thing to a walkable downtown south of the state line; the section below walks it stop by stop.

• BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove6275 Snowden Ln

  A real outdoor shed with a national calendar, connected to Silo Square by a pedestrian bridge. The fall 2026 run: The Hayley Williams Show (Oct 12), KIX in the Sip with Rodney Atkins (Oct 15), and Dru Hill with Ginuwine, Next & Troop (Oct 24), all at 7pm. The next one on the books is Earth, Wind & Fire on April 20, 2027.

• Landers CenterVenture Dr

  The metro's second arena — concerts, touring shows, and two home teams. On the fall books: the 23rd Memphis Tri-State Blues Festival (Sat, Oct 17, 6:30pm), Mid-South Monarchs hockey, and the Memphis Hustle's G League season starting in November.

• Tanger Outlets SouthavenAirways Blvd at I-55

  The metro's outlet mall, with 65+ stores across 325,000 square feet — Coach, Columbia, Crocs, and the rest. Hours shift with the holiday season, so check the center's page before a Black Friday run.

• Central Park7651 Tchulahoma Rd

  Southaven's flagship park — an 18-hole disc golf course, a lake, walking trails, a playground, exercise equipment, and picnic tables. Free, open dawn to dusk, and quietly one of the best disc golf setups in the metro.

Downtown Southaven: Silo Square, stop by stop

Silo Square is a designated Leisure and Recreation District, which means you can carry a drink from store to store while you walk the square — and walk it across the pedestrian bridge to a BankPlus show.   A self-serve wine bar with 24 wines on tap, plus cocktails, charcuterie, and bruschetta flights, with outdoor seating. Reservations available. Tue–Thu & Sun 4–8pm, Fri–Sat 4–9pm.

• Tekila6343 Getwell Rd

  Modern Mexican with a rooftop patio over the square — and Silo Square's own directory suggests grabbing a drink here before walking the bridge to a show. Reservations preferred.

• Pars and Pints2842 May Blvd

  TrackMan golf simulators that play courses from around the world, plus live sports and a bar and kitchen. Walk-ins welcome. Mon–Thu 10am–10pm, Fri–Sun 8am–midnight.

• Staks Pancake Kitchen2902 May Blvd

  The breakfast line on the square — Oreo praline pancakes, shrimp and grits, and brunch cocktails. Daily 6:30am–2pm. On the waitlist? Silo Square's tip is a mimosa to-go and a browse next door at Ultimate Gifts.

  Coffee, tea, pastries, and gelato, with outdoor seating and a fireplace. Mon–Fri 8am–6:30pm, Sat 8–5, Sun 10–5.

  The Mid-South's American Mahjong spot: lessons, open play, leagues, and tournaments for any experience level, plus tile sets to take home. Mon–Sat 10am–6pm.

  Ultimate Gifts (a longtime Southaven gift shop), Magnolia House (decor, fine art, books), Magnolia Soap & Bath Co., and women's boutiques Stella Ivy and Dappled — most open Mon–Sat from 10am.

Things to do in Southaven with kids

The burn-the-energy tier, plus a couple of nights out the whole family can do.

  The rainy-day standby: trampolines, ropes course, climbing, and more. Open play Mon–Thu 4–8pm, Fri 4–9pm, Sat 10am–9pm, Sun noon–8pm, with longer days over school breaks (Nov 23–24 run 10am–8pm for Thanksgiving break). Current pass prices are on their site.

• Central Park playground & lake7651 Tchulahoma Rd

  Free and open dawn to dusk: a playground, a lake with walking trails, picnic tables, and the disc golf course for older kids. The easiest free afternoon in Southaven.

• Southern Pines Park6655 Blue Spruce Dr

  A quieter neighborhood park with a lake, open space, and a playground — one of the city's 20 neighborhood parks.

• Mid-South Monarchs hockeyLanders Center

  Pro hockey on the Mississippi side, all 7pm puck drops: Oct 23 & 24 vs. Baton Rouge, Oct 30 & 31 vs. Columbus, and Nov 14 vs. Columbus. A Halloween-night game is a pretty good family plan.

• Memphis Hustle basketballLanders Center

  The Grizzlies' G League team plays its home games here. November dates on the arena calendar: Nov 10 vs. Osceola, and Nov 12 & 13 vs. Oklahoma City, all at 7pm.

• Snowden Grove ParkPine Tar Alley

  One of the country's premier youth baseball complexes (it's why the amphitheater lives here), plus city soccer, softball, tennis, and football complexes. Tournament weekends make the whole district buzz — and Silo Square is a walk away for lunch.

• Dessert on the squareSilo Square

  City Hall Cheesecake keeps 100+ small-batch cheesecake varieties, and Vampire Penguin does fluffy shaved snow with toppings — both on May Blvd, both open into the evening most days.

Worth the short drive (DeSoto County)

Ten to twenty-five minutes deeper into DeSoto — worth it.

  Saturday mornings, 8am–1pm, May through October on Hernando's genuinely charming historic square — with a kids' day the last Saturday of each month. Check their page before the drive; small-market seasons shift.

  A big Army Corps reservoir — boating, fishing, swim beaches, camping. Day-use areas open and close seasonally, so check the Corps' site for current status before you go.
