Rooftop Bars & Patios in Memphis

Memphis summers are made for drinking outside — the question is just which kind of outside. Up high, where the Mississippi rolls out past the bridge lights and the skyline goes pink at sunset? Or down in a yard with a creek running through it, an Adirondack chair, and no reason to leave? This guide has both: the rooftops with the views, and the patios and yards with the hang.

One thing the other lists skip: timing. A few of these are gloriously seasonal — the Peabody's rooftop only opens for Thursday parties April through August, and the hotel rooftops thin out when it's cold. So here's what's actually up and running, verified at each spot's own website in July 2026, with the hours pattern and the catch (dress code, ticket, or season) where there is one. Rooftops with a view

Elevators, skylines, and the river. A couple have a dress code or a ticket — noted where they do.

• Hu. RoofDowntown, 79 Madison (17th floor)

  The city's only all-season rooftop, seventeen floors up with “breathtaking views of the mighty Mississippi and the Hernando DeSoto Bridge” — time your drink to the #mightylights bridge show, which runs at the top and middle of each hour after sundown. Trend-forward dress code (no workout wear); walk-in only right now.

• Beck & CallDowntown, 33 Beale (atop Hyatt Centric)

  A whiskey-focused rooftop cocktail bar with panoramic downtown and river views, eight stories over Beale. Own words: “a premier rooftop cocktail bar boasting panoramic views of Downtown Memphis.” Tue–Thu 4–10pm, Fri–Sat till midnight, first-come.

• Tiger & PeacockOverton Square, 21 S Cooper (7th floor)

  The Memphian hotel's astronomy-themed rooftop — cosmic cocktails and small plates over the Overton Square murals. 21+, and there's a real “dress to impress” code (collared shirt or blazer for men; no athletic wear). Tue–Sun evenings.

• Terrace at the River InnHarbor Town, 50 Harbor Town Square

  A tucked-away rooftop restaurant-lounge on the River Inn with “panoramic views of the Mississippi River” and, by their own account, “the best sunsets and ambiance year round.” Daily 5–9pm, first-come. The quiet, un-showy sunset pick.

• Old Dominick DistilleryDowntown, 305 S Front

  Grab a craft cocktail at the bar downstairs and head up the stairs to the distillery's rooftop lounge for a sweeping view of the city — “one of your favorite spots in town,” they figure, and they might be right. Open during bar hours; a distillery tour pairs well.

• The Peabody Rooftop PartyDowntown, 149 Union

  The iconic one — but know what it is: a ticketed party on Thursday nights, April through August only (2026's season runs through mid-August), with live bands, DJs, and “sky-high views of the sun setting over the Mississippi.” 6–10pm, 21+, $15 general / $40 VIP at the door.

• 901 Rooftop at AloftDowntown, 63 N B.B. King

  A warm-months-only skyline rooftop above the Aloft's WXYZ bar — umbrella canopies, couches, Friday-evening programming. Seasonal, so check that it's open for the season before you head up; the lobby bar runs year-round.

Yards & patios to sink into

Ground level, no dress code, stay all afternoon. The Memphis hang.

• Loflin YardSouth Main, 7 W Carolina

  Two acres of the best outdoor hang in Memphis — their own list: “a large patio, 2 outdoor bars, 2 covered decks, a waterfall with a creek, a stage, a grassy backyard, fire pits, corn hole, and more.” Sink into an Adirondack chair and don't get up. The bar in the old barn keeps the cocktails coming.

• Carolina WatershedSouth Main, 141 E Carolina

  The most unique patio in town — a tiered backyard oasis built into four grain silos with two waterfalls (12 and 14 feet), ponds, and cozy nooks. Heads up: their website's been down, so check their Instagram (@carolinawatershed) for current hours before you go — but the space is one of a kind.

• Slider InnMidtown (2117 Peabody) + Downtown (363 Mulberry)

  Two spots, two patios. Midtown has “a covered and uncovered patio” and is reliably dog-friendly; Downtown's “Slider Out” is a rare big green space on South Main — cabana and picnic seating, 300+ capacity, a covered stage. Both do weekend brunch.

• Aldo's Pizza Pies (Midtown)Cooper-Young, 752 S Cooper

  The Cooper-Young location has a rooftop patio — pizza, a long beer list, and live music up on the roof on Wine Wednesdays (6pm). A low-key, no-fuss version of the rooftop night.

A couple of things to know

Two spots you'll still see on older patio lists have closed: Alchemy in Cooper-Young poured its last in June 2025, and Railgarten on Central closed in 2024 (the space is being redeveloped as a family concept called “Stomping Grounds”).
