Free Period Monday β€” National Civil Rights Museum, 450 Mulberry St., 3–5 PM, free for Tennessee residents. Show a state ID after 3 and one adult plus up to five kids get in free, which makes it a two-hour after-school field trip. Details

Paint a Pumpkin β€” Hollywood Library, 1530 N. Hollywood St., 4–5 PM, free, ages 5 to 12. The library supplies the pumpkins and the music. Your kids bring the ideas. Details

Tiny Tots β€” Burch Library, Collierville, 10:30–11 AM, free. A half hour of bells, scarves and shakers for babies and their grown-ups, no registration needed. Details

Heads up, I-40 drivers: at 6 this morning TDOT closed the ramp from Watkins onto eastbound I-40, with a posted detour, and it stays closed for about 60 days. It's part of the I-40 rebuild between Levee Rd. and Hollywood St., where nightly lane closures also run from 9 PM to 6 AM. (via TDOT)

Tennessee's new Teacher of the Year teaches in Collierville. Jenna Burke, who has taught STEM at Sycamore Elementary since 2017, was named the 2026-27 winner Thursday, and she'll represent the state in the national competition. (via Tennessee Department of Education)

Orange Mound is the first neighborhood on the city's new fiber network. As of Friday, the Orange Mound Community Center, the library and Melrose Stadium all have free public Wi-Fi, and the community center has two upgraded tech labs, one for seniors and one for young people. The city says more neighborhoods come next. (via City of Memphis)
