5th Season Black Farmers' Market — Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 491 E. McLemore Ave., 3–7 PM, free. The Center for Black Southern Culture has run this in the church lot every Tuesday since June, in a stretch of South Memphis where a real grocery run means leaving the neighborhood. Growers, bakers and makers, and the season closes out after Labor Day. Details

Yoga on the River — River Garden, 51 Riverside Dr., 6–7 PM, free. Tonight is the season opener, and it runs every Tuesday from here through September 29. All levels, Candace leads it, the Mississippi handles the rest. Bring a mat and turn up. Details

Spillit: Lesson Plan — New Memphis, 516 Tennessee St., 6–8 PM, free. Memphis teachers take the mic and tell true stories out of their own classrooms, in the same week the school year cranks back up. It doubles as the reveal of this year's Educators of Excellence, and food and drinks are covered. Details

Dance Night: Boogie Back in Time — Baker Community Center, 7942 Church St., Millington, 6–9 PM, $7 cash only. Millington Parks & Rec runs this on the third Tuesday of the month, and August's is a 70s night with Gary Abbott on the bandstand. Doors at 5:45 if you want a table first, and the flyer makes a point of saying store-bought snacks are welcome — bring a bag of chips and make friends. Details

Memphis Redbirds vs. Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp — AutoZone Park, gates 5:45, first pitch 6:45, from $9.01. Yesterday we said they were coming home. Tonight they actually are, and it's the first of six against the Jumbo Shrimp. The value menu at the Cantina Stand by section 114 runs tonight through Thursday. Details

Splash pads — seven City of Memphis parks, 10 AM–7:45 PM, free. They shifted to a 10 o'clock open on August 3 and they shut down for the year on September 7, so there are about three weeks of this left. No reservation, no admission, seven places to pick from. Details

Baby Storytime — Cordova Library, 11–11:45 AM, free. An eleven o'clock start, which any parent of a baby will tell you is the whole difference between making it out the door and not. Details

Paint Party! — Orange Mound Library, 843 Dallas St., 3–5 PM, free. August is American Artist Appreciation Month, which the Orange Mound branch is marking by handing paint to five-year-olds for two hours. Ages 5 to 12, no registration. Details

📰 The Rundown

Rugby has a purpose-built home in Shelby County now. Larry Magdovitz — lawyer, and once a player for the Memphis Blues — bought 39 acres at Riverdale and Holmes and turned it into four full-size pitches with 143 parking spaces, deed-restricted so it can never be anything but rugby. It hosted its first Elvis 7s tournament on August 1. (via Memphis Flyer)

Hollywood Cemetery in South Memphis holds Furry Lewis, Frank Stokes, and men who walked in the 1968 sanitation strike, and for years it has been vanishing under brush. Volunteers led by Hattie Danger and Diane Greene have spent August out there mowing and clearing, and headstones nobody had laid eyes on in years are surfacing again. Regional One unveiled the design for its $1 billion hospital at 495 Union, on the old Commercial Appeal site, meant to stitch Downtown back onto the Medical District. It's 600,000 square feet, 315 beds, two helipads, and — finally — every operating room on a single floor instead of scattered across four buildings. The exterior gets vertical fins that cut glare and throw shifting light at whoever's driving past. (via The Tri-State Defender)

TDOT has most of the loop under a knife this week. I-40 eastbound between Levee and Hollywood is in long-term lane closures for rubblization and paving, I-240 is being resurfaced from I-40 to I-55 and again from Elvis Presley to South Perkins, and I-55 between Mill Branch and I-240 drops to one lane overnight. Nearly all of it runs 8 PM to 6 AM, so daytime drivers mostly get a pass. (via TDOT)

Ouri Matcha finally has a door that stays put — after two years of hauling a matcha cart around town, Cameron and Dean Park opened their first brick-and-mortar at 606 N. Main in Uptown at the start of the month, in the old Mane Wildling florist space. Ceremonial-grade matcha, and on a 97-degree Tuesday the iced end of the menu is the point. They post hours on their Instagram — there's no website yet, so that's the one to check before you drive over.

🎟️ Looking Ahead

FoodieLand lands this weekend — Friday through Sunday at Tiger Lane at Liberty Park, 940 Early Maxwell, $15 a day and kids 5 and under free. Friday runs 3 to 10, Saturday and Sunday both 1 to 10. Two things to know before you go: there's no re-entry, so your ticket is single-use, and parking in the stadium lots is $11.50 a vehicle if you'd rather buy it ahead. Details

The Shell turns 90 — and it's throwing itself a four-day Shell-ebration, September 10–13. Booker T. Jones opens it Thursday the 10th, 7–9 PM, $25 general and $50 VIP, on sale now. The other three days are free, which is the most Overton Park Shell thing imaginable. Details

Satellite Music Hall opens in Crosstown — the 1,300-capacity room has a Community Preview Night on Wednesday, September 2, doors 6 and show 7, all ages, with DJ JB and DJ Nycelyfe. Every dollar of face value goes to Stax Music Academy. The Band CAMINO christens the room properly on the 4th and 5th. Details
