Hey Memphis 👋 It's Monday. Sunny and 99, down to about 75 overnight, and the Extreme Heat Warning expired at 8 last night — straight into a Heat Advisory that runs until 8 tonight, heat index up to 110. A demotion on paper that you will not feel. Elvis Week wrapped Sunday, the golf packed up the same afternoon, and the city gets its parking spaces back. Chicago Stepping with Ray — Levi Library, 3676 S. Third St., 2–3:30 PM. A weekly stepping class in a South Memphis library meeting room, run by Ray Hilliard, and the listing goes out of its way to say every class is beginner friendly. No sign-up sheet, no partner required, no reason not to. Details

Electrical Systems Crash Course for Teens — CLOUD901 at the Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave., 4:45–7:45 PM. Night one of a five-part series on circuits, wiring and components, in the Robotics Zone, ages 13 to 18. The listing makes a point of saying no formal STEM experience is necessary, which is the sentence that actually gets a kid in the room. Registration required, and it closes the minute class starts. Hustle & Flow Pilates — the Sunset Canopy at Tom Lee Park, 422 Riverside Dr., 6–7 PM, free. Bridget runs it every Monday under the canopy, which makes it the rare outdoor workout that comes with actual shade and whatever the river feels like giving you. Fair warning: the Heat Advisory runs until 8 tonight, so this hour sits inside it. Bring more water than you think you need, and there's no shame in sitting this one out. Details

Celestial Sound Bath: After the Eclipse — The Broom Closet, 552 S. Main St., 6:30–8 PM, from about $25. Ninety minutes flat on the floor of a South Main metaphysical shop while somebody plays crystal bowls and gongs at you. This is either exactly your thing or absolutely not, and you already know which one you are. Details

Mudpie Mondays — My Big Backyard at the Memphis Botanic Garden, 10 AM–12 PM, included with admission ($12 adults, $7 kids 2–12). Kids build mudpies out of whatever the garden hands them, on the Guest House Patio. Go at ten. Ten is the last civilized hour outdoors today. Details

White Duck Scavenger Hunt — North Library, 1192 Vollintine Ave., all day. Ducks hidden around the branch and, in the library's own words, "a swanky prize from the PRIZE BOX." No sign-up, ages 5 through the teens, and it runs every other Monday clear through December. Details

Pokemon Club — Burch Library, 501 Poplar View Parkway, Collierville, 5–6 PM, free. Bring cards, bring a game, bring nothing. All ages, no registration, in the Storytelling Room of the same library the town broke ground on expanding last Wednesday. Details

📰 The Rundown

Westy's served its last plate Saturday, 42 years after the first one. Owner Jake Schorr is retiring and recovering from a medical procedure. The part that outlasts the restaurant: the free Thanksgiving meal run he built with Lindenwood Christian Church and Operation BBQ Relief — close to 60,000 meals — is set to keep going. Kevin Sharp is stepping down at the Dixon after 19 years, the longest run any director has had in the museum's 50-year history. If you have ever walked into the Dixon and not paid for it, that was his call — he ended admission fees, and added more than 600 works to the collection besides. "It's time to turn the reins over to a new generation of museum leadership," he said. He stays until a successor is found, which they're aiming for by summer 2027. (via Memphis Flyer) · The Dixon

Veteran Village is open. It's 110 units of supportive housing for veterans from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, with behavioral health services, employment help, case management and veterans service advocates on site around the clock — the whole design being that a roof by itself doesn't finish the job. Arlington is getting a boutique. The Speckled Ginger opens this fall at 11125 Highway 70 — women's clothing, shoes and jewelry in sizes XS to 3XL, plus permanent jewelry, across 1,300 square feet. Wiseacre is pouring Oktoberfest in August — Medal Mondays runs 4 to 10 at the original Broad Avenue taproom, $4 a pint for the beers with medals on them: Tiny Bomb, Sky Dog, Sky Dog Amber, and yes, Oktoberfest, roughly six weeks before anyone in Munich would permit it. It's 2783 Broad, and the outdoor pavilion out back is tented year-round, which today is not a small detail. Details

The Redbirds come home tomorrow — six games against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Tuesday through Sunday. Gates at 5:45, first pitch 6:45 tomorrow night, and tickets start at $9.01 every game of the stand. Delta Fair tickets hit Kroger Friday — ahead of the September 4 to 13 run at the Agricenter. Watch the math, though: single admissions at Kroger are the same $15 and $10 you'd pay at the gate, and the reason to go is the $94 Family Fun Pack — two adult admissions, two youth, two ride wristbands, a $122 value.
