Genealogy Assistance Tuesdays with Skyler — Orange Mound Library, 843 Dallas St., 1–3 PM, free. Two hours of one-on-one help with the ancestor you keep losing, at the branch's own genealogy center. No registration — walk in with whatever you've already got, even if that's one name and a guess. Details

Fiber Arts Club — Burch Library, Collierville, 5–7 PM, free. Knitting, crochet, quilting and needlepoint in one room, with nobody teaching and nobody grading. Bring the project that's been sitting in a bag since spring. There were 28 seats open when we checked. Details

Dance Night with the Jim Mahannah Band — Baker Community Center, 7942 Church St., Millington, doors 5:45, dancing 6–9 PM, $7. A live band in a community center for seven dollars. Millington has quietly been running this math right for years while the rest of us drive past. Details

Yoga on the River — River Garden, 51 Riverside Dr., 6–7 PM, free. Candace leads the flow, the Mississippi handles the soundtrack. It runs every Tuesday, and this is the first one in weeks you can do without negotiating with a heat index. Details

Club de lectura — Dixon Gallery and Gardens, 4339 Park Ave., 6–7 PM, free. A Spanish-language book club that meets the first Tuesday of the month, and August's pick is Laura Restrepo's Dulce compañía. The Dixon keeps three copies to lend — email Margarita Sandino and one of them is yours. Details

The Mystic — The Green Room at Crosstown, 1350 Concourse Ave., 6–7 PM, free. An hour of music, story, silence and conversation. Their own stated goal isn't to help you feel better, it's to help you get better at feeling, and that distinction is worth the hour. Details

Long Live the King! Chess Club — Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave., 6–7:30 PM, free. Beginners get taught, veterans get a game, and the age range in the room runs from little kids to grandparents. Main lobby, behind the escalators. Details

Redbirds vs. Nashville Sounds — AutoZone Park, gates 5:45, first pitch 6:45. Six straight against Nashville starts tonight, and the Redbirds go into it billed on their own homestand page as 2026 First Half International League Champions. Bonus for a Tuesday: the new value menu at the Cantina Stand by section 114 runs tonight through Thursday. Details

📰 The Rundown

The Metal Museum is putting a kitchen in its new home. It has filed to build out 645 square feet of cafe space at 1930 Poplar in Overton Park, with a grand opening set for Saturday, September 5. That's the next chapter after it closed the riverbluff campus this past weekend, 47 years after opening it. (via WhatNow Memphis)

A dozen teams played the first Dennis Price Jr. Golf Classic on Saturday at The Links at Pine Hill, raising money toward a fifth DJ's Care Closet — the pantries the Price family stocks in Memphis-Shelby County Schools with free school supplies, clothes and hygiene items, in their son's memory. Mayor Paul Young came out, and called it incredible work. (via Action News 5)

Warby Parker opened in Germantown on Saturday, at 7820 Poplar Ave. in the Germantown Collection. It's the company's fifth Tennessee store, doing glasses, sunglasses and contacts now with eye exams planned — and the walls carry original work by Memphis artist Bee Johnson. (via WhatNow Memphis)

🍽️ Food & Drink

Huey's put chicken on brioche — the burger place added two crispy chicken sandwiches, one with roasted garlic aioli and pickle chips, the other stacked into a BLTA with bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Both use whole muscle breast, both sit on a brioche bun for the first time in Huey's history, and they're the first new menu items in three years. All ten locations. (via Memphis Flyer)

Shreya's Pizza — Italian-Indian fusion on Park Avenue, which sounds like a dare until you read the board: a Paneer Tikka pizza and a Mumbai Street pizza sitting right next to a plain pepperoni. Open seven days a week, 11 AM to 9 PM, at 3439 Park Ave. Details · Our pizza guide

🎟️ Looking Ahead

Deep Purple and Kansas — Thursday, August 6 at Radians Amphitheater. We've flagged this one twice without being able to tell you when to show up. That's fixed: gates at 5:30, show at 7:30, all ages, free parking and a shuttle, and you can bring your own food and drink. Price is still Ticketmaster-only. Details

Memphis Chicken & Beer Festival — Saturday, August 8, Tiger Lane, 6–10 PM, 21 and up with a valid ID. General admission is $45 plus tax and gets you a souvenir tasting cup and every pour on the field; VIP is $80 plus tax for a half hour early, a lounge with actual seating, charcuterie and chair massages. A portion goes to Merge Memphis, and there's a $25 designated-driver ticket for whoever's driving. Details

Zoo Brew is back — Friday, August 14, 7–10 PM, 21 and up. The Zoo's own words are "finally back… after years away," and the pour list is a Memphis roll call: Meddlesome, Ghost River, Crosstown, Hampline, Xul, Soul & Spirits, Memphis Filling Station, Tennessee Brewing and Wiseacre, among 30-plus. $75 general admission, $125 VIP for a 6 PM early entry and a gift bag. One thing to put in your calendar now: the Zoo closes at 2 PM that day, with last admission at 1 — so don't plan a regular Zoo visit on top of it. Details
