Clue opens at the Orpheum, a Cambridge choir sings free downtown, and a Dolly tribute on Madison

Hey Memphis 👋 It’s Tuesday, and the heat advisory is still up until 7 tonight: a high near 100, heat index up to 108. The good news is the timing. Most of tonight’s best stuff is indoors and starts right about when the advisory ends.

The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge — Calvary Episcopal Church, 102 N. Second St., 7 PM, free. One of the best-known choirs in the world, with roots in the fourteenth century, is making its first-ever Memphis stop on its fall tour. No tickets and no registration — it’s general admission, and doors open at 6:15. Details

Clue opens at the Orpheum — 203 S. Main St., 7:30 PM, $46.70–$162.15. Yesterday it was “opens tomorrow.” Tonight it’s opening night: the stage comedy built on the board game and the 1985 movie, eighty minutes with no intermission, recommended for 12 and up. It runs through Sunday. Details

French Film Festival opening night — Blount Auditorium, Buckman Hall, Rhodes College, reception at 5:30, film at 6, free. Rhodes opens its sixth French film festival with The Stranger, from the Camus novel, subtitled in English and followed by a Q&A. It’s the first of six free screenings through October 2. Dolly Parton Tribute — B-Side, 1553 Madison Ave., 7 PM, suggested donation. A Dolly night on Madison, and after the show the donations go to her Imagination Library. Details

Toy Box: Karaoke & Game Night — Hattiloo Theatre’s Culture Box, 37 Cooper St., 5:30–8:30 PM, pay what you want. Every Tuesday, Hattiloo’s small room puts a karaoke mic up front and chess, Connect Four, Jenga and Mancala on the tables. Name your price when you reserve a spot. Details

Ladies Skate Night — Society Skatepark, 583 Scott St., 5–9 PM, $10 day pass ($5 for members). Round two of women’s night at the indoor park. Bring a board, skates or a bike, or use theirs. Everybody signs a waiver, and under-14s need an adult. Details

Brick Dinos — Pink Palace Museum, 3050 Central Ave., 10:30 AM–5 PM, $21 general admission. LEGO dinosaurs, a flying pterodactyl and a LEGO fossil dig — and it’s in its last month, closing October 11. The museum is shut Mondays, so today is the first shot this week. Details

Animal Misconceptions: Wild Ideas about the Wild Kingdom — James F. Anderson Public Library, 370 W. Commerce St., Hernando, 5:30–6:30 PM, free. An hour on the animal “facts” everybody repeats and almost nobody has right. Details

Hispanic Heritage Month starts today and runs through October 15. Memphis got a head start Sunday, when United Festival filled Beale Street Landing with cumbia and the bridge lit up in the colors of Latin American flags that night. The biggest party of the month is Latin Fest 901, free, at Overton Square on Saturday, September 26. (via Action News 5)

If you renew your car tags in person, skip tomorrow. The Shelby County Clerk’s Office is pausing in-person vehicle renewals Wednesday, September 16, to work through a backlog of dealer paperwork. The office stays open for everything else, and renewals pick back up Thursday. (via ABC24)

St. Patrick Catholic Church, near FedExForum, blessed its restored bell tower and cross on Sunday as part of the parish’s 160th anniversary. Church leaders say the cross is now the tallest downtown. (via Action News 5)

Frida’s is closing its Collierville location after ten years. The last night is Sunday, September 20, with doors closing at 9. The family’s original on Madison Avenue in Midtown stays open. (via WREG)

Blue Note Bourbon Dinner at Paulette’s — tomorrow, on the rooftop terrace of the River Inn in Harbor Town, $95 a person before tax and tip. Five courses, from barbecued Gulf shrimp to braised short loin, each one paired with a Blue Note bourbon. Reservations are required, so today is the day to make one. Details

Zoo Boo opens Friday — Memphis Zoo, select nights through November 1, 6–9 PM, $23 ($20 for members). This year’s version is all new, with a seven-foot maze. September nights are the 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th. Details

Theatre in the Park: La Hormiga y el Sr. Q — Gaisman Park, 4223 Macon Rd., Saturday at 11 AM, free. Cazateatro’s bilingual family play, drawn from a Mesoamerican legend, outdoors — bring a blanket or a chair. Details

Kool & the Gang and Patti LaBelle — Radians Amphitheater at the Memphis Botanic Garden, Friday, gates 5:30, show at 8. The last Live at the Garden show of the season, and you can bring your own food and drinks. Details
