• Ty March w/ Zane Neale & Trey Delton — Growlers, Midtown, 8 PM (doors 7), $10. A country triple-bill on a Wednesday, which around here usually means the amps stay off — not tonight. Details

• "Black Joy, In Spite Of…" — National Civil Rights Museum, Downtown, 9 AM–6 PM, $25 ($22 for kids). The gallery at the Lorraine Motel frames joy itself as an act of resistance — a couple of hours well spent downtown. Details

• Dino Kid Rave! — Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, Midtown, 2 PM, free. A full-on dinosaur dance party for the little ones — music, stomping, and dino books to take home the sugar high. Details

• No Pressure Book Club — Germantown Community Library, 3 PM, free. No assigned reading and no commitment: show up, talk about whatever you're into right now, and leave with your next three books. Details

• Kaleidoscope Club — Dixon Gallery & Gardens, East Memphis, 4–5 PM, $8 (free for members). An hour of hands-on art and gardening for the 5-to-9 set, out among the Dixon's 17 acres. Details

• Adult Spelling Bee — Belltower Coffee, University District, 6 PM, $5 to enter. A grown-ups' spelling bee at the Highland Strip coffeehouse (wine bar by night) — mocktail menu going and the winner takes the whole pot. Details

• Comedy Open Mic — Havenhaus, Broad Avenue, 8 PM (sign-ups 7:30), free. Watch Memphis comics test-drive brand-new bits — some killer, some gloriously not — in the back room of a Broad Ave listening spot. Five minutes a mic, no cover. Details

• Pub Trivia — Celtic Crossing, Cooper-Young, 7 PM, free. Bring a team to the Irish pub and play smart — this one doubles as a fundraiser for Shelby County Books from Birth. Details

📰 The Rundown

There's a new free perch over the Mississippi. The Memphis Flyway just opened at Tom Lee Park — a 218-foot observation deck that juts out over the river with wide-open views of the water, downtown, and the Arkansas side. It's free, ADA-accessible, and billed as the only deck of its kind on the whole river. (via FOX13)

Crosstown's new music hall has its opening act. Satellite Music Hall — the 1,300-capacity venue from Crosstown Concourse and Live Nation — kicks off its grand-opening season Sept. 4 with The Band Camino, on a lineup that folds in Memphis names like Valerie June and Project Pat. (via Action News 5)

A Summer Avenue classic is in good hands. The Pancake Shop has been flipping flapjacks since 1958, and owner Hunter Myers has kept the old recipes exactly as they were while freshening up the room and pulling in a new crowd. (via Memphis Flyer)

🍽️ Food & Drink

Cocozza goes all-in on East Memphis. Cocozza East — the second location of the Italian spot — starts serving seven days a week on July 20 (919 S. Yates, full bar, open daily 4–9). Go see. Two more just opened around town, too: Ritual brought coffee and bistro plates to South Main, and Raymah Cafe is now pouring in Southeast Memphis.

• Little Big Town — tomorrow (Thu, July 16), Live at the Garden at the Memphis Botanic Garden. It's a BYOB lawn show and it's the very next night, so grab a blanket. Details

• Spamalot & the Stray Cats — both go on sale this Friday, July 17, at the Orpheum. Spamalot runs Oct 27–Nov 1; the Stray Cats play Nov 15. Details

• John Legend: An Evening of Songs & Stories — August 14, Live at the Garden. On sale now, another BYOB night on the lawn. Details
